Bournemouth and Poole college expansion approved

An £11 million investment for the Bournemouth and Poole college has been given the go-ahead.

The plans will transform the North Road campus in Poole by creating a modern theatre for performing arts and a complex of classrooms for media studies, and health and medical sciences all within an L-shaped building, according to the Bournemouth Echo.

College principal Lawrence Vincent said: “This extensive development will be a real benefit for the whole of Poole. It’s not just about college staff and students. The new building, due for completion in 2015, will add enormously to the college learning experience.”

He added he was grateful to the Skills Funding Agency, which helped to fund the project, in partnership with the college. He also praised the council in Poole for its support in helping to create an education facility designed for the modern era in the heart of the town.

The executive director of resources Ken Roberts, who is overseeing the project, said it was a really exciting development for the college and everyone associated with it.

Work is expected to commence in March this year.
