A college in Portsmouth and its partners have beaten a number of international institutions to secure a contract to provide education at a women-only facility in Saudi Arabia.
Highbury College joined with a group of other UK-based schools to form the NESCOT Consortium and aims to provide excellent education for females in the Middle Eastern country.
A Limited Liability Company (LLC) has been established for operating purposes and this will oversee the day-to-day running of the college, which will be based in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah.
Contract signing ceremonies took place earlier this week (June 16th) in the Ritz Carlton hotel in the oil-rich nation’s capital.
Mrs Mann, the principal of the LLC, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the NESCOT consortium and we are all incredibly excited about the impact this college will have.”
The institution will offer women courses in IT, Business Administration, Beauty, Fashion and Jewellery Design and each qualification is tested by a mixture of Saudi Arabian systems and British BTECs.
“The opportunity for women doesn’t stop at accessing equivalent qualifications to their Saudi male counterparts,” Mrs Mann added.
