YouTube is the brand that students love the most, it has been revealed.

The video website came top of a Youth 100 poll that also saw high placements for alcoholic drink Jagermeister, food retailer Greggs and condom maker Durex, the Daily Telegraph reports.

It was found that 18 to 24-year-olds tend to prefer YouTube to other well-known technology brands, including Google, Facebook and Apple.

Google bought the site in 2006 and revealed the results of the survey at the Google Campus in London.

Luke Mitchell of The Beans Group, which was behind the research, said YouTube is a deserving winner as it has successfully enabled video content to become a conversation piece between producers and their audience.

Mr Mitchell stated: “They’ve provided a platform where the humble video has been transformed as part of the online revolution that resonates with young people.”

A shortlist of 220 brands was drawn up by the organisers of the survey, who decided on the rundown by looking at mentions of different companies in social media, on forums and via interviews.
