The University of Exeter has offered student finance advice to youngsters from Newton Abbot College.
Year eight pupils at the learning institute were invited along to a special training day teaching them how to handle living away from parents when heading into higher education, the Herald Express reports.
Attendees took part in a Raising Aspirations Project that aimed to offer an insight into how life at university works.
The pupils were taught about different aspects of student finance and also received talks about the various types of courses available and the clubs and societies they may choose to join.
One of the students participating in the visit was Christian College, who stated: “It was a really good day. I liked visiting the campus and now I understand what a university is really like.”
A tour of the campus – which is home to more than 18,500 students – was included in the event, while the youngsters were also advised on how living away from home with people of a similar age will differ from life with their parents.
