
A college in the north-east of England is offering student finance assistance in order to help pupils fund their attendance costs.
Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) is providing a range of support options, including allowances, bursaries and scholarships, This is Staffordshire reports.
In addition, people could also take advantage of childcare cost help and discounted bus passes.
Karen Dobson, principal and chief executive at NULC, said the facility is committed to assisting its pupils in the current economic climate.
Ms Dobson noted the college believes it is essential that “everyone has the opportunity of a high quality education, regardless of their financial circumstances”.
She said the learning institute is aware of the extra pressures facing many families at present, adding: “Our allowance scheme is there to help remove financial barriers to college.”
The Guaranteed Bursary Allowance forms part of the drive and is being made available to pupils who are either in care or are a care leaver, while those who receive Income Support or Employment Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance can also qualify for the assistance.
