The International Office at University College Plymouth Marjon is looking for more local residents to host international students . The Derriford based college is looking for homestay hosts to put up foreign students from July. A spokesman for Marjon said that long and term accommodation is required, as international students are enrolled on courses of different lengths.
UCP Marjon has an increasingly diverse array of students, though with space in university halls limited, the university is having to look for local families to share the burden. The Marjon spokesperson said the most important criteria required in a host family is to be able to offer visiting students a warm and welcoming environment, and that the students are integrated into the everyday lives of their host family.
UCP Marjon offers a broad range of higher education courses, including a number of Foundational Degrees. The University College is also renowned for its teacher training, boasting the highest employability rate of any institution in the South West. Students and teachers regularly report a friendly atmosphere at the University College, culminating in UCP Marjon landing a place in the top ten of the National Student Survey results in two of the last four years.
