Students at Mid-Cheshire College have been tasked with designing a poster campaign for different charities with the aim of tackling prejudice. Teachers asked pupils to research different types of prejudice and offer an interpretation in the form of a poster. The different forms of prejudice were homophobia, mental health and racism.
The schools graphic design tutor, Jayne Fox, said she was pleased that the project had allowed students to understand more about prejudice and tolerance, and was convinced that many students have developed and changed their views as a result of the project.
The winning student, Joe McGrath from Knutsford, hopes his poster will now form part of a national campaign. The national diploma student is studying graphic design and said he has a better idea of the problems people face as a result of the project. Joe will now contact the relevant charities with a view to using the poster in an effort to promote tolerance in the North West.
Mid-Cheshire College is going from strength to strength and recently celebrated a record intake of students. The college has seen a growth of 66 per cent in the past six years and now has 1,700 full time students.
