South Cheshire College has set up a partnership with local schools to allow pupils considering enrolling on further education courses to gain an insight into what the courses are like. Year Ten students at local high schools will be able to participate in organised taster sessions on Wednesday afternoons in April and May. The colleges relations with local schools has always been productive, with student activity days traditionally held for three days each July once the pupils have finished for summer.
The participating schools are Kings Grove High School, William Stanier High School, Ruskin Sports College and St Thomas More Catholic High School. A range of courses and activities will be on offer at the college, with sports such as tennis and climbing on offer, while sessions will also be held on performing arts, business, engineering, painting and a range of other subjects.
South Cheshire College is undergoing considerable renovation at present, with a new £74 million campus set to open in September. It is hoped that the Secondary College taster sessions will help to inspire local students to carry on past GCSEs into further education and possibly to A-levels .
