A Huddersfield College has been given a superb review by Ofsted inspectors. Moor End Technology College in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, has been lauded as a shining example to rival colleges, and has been hailed as outstanding in the latest report. The college has just under 800 pupils, and according to Ofsted, has a diverse but harmonious atmosphere among both its teachers and students .
The outstanding school was also praised for its contribution to the community, and students were said to learn and flourish at a wider level in the safe, caring and nurturing environment provided by the school.
The majority of the pupils are aged between 11 and 16, and most of them are from minority ethnic backgrounds. The schools inclusive atmosphere is therefore hugely important, Ofsted said, and the college was also praised for its dedicated attention to pupils with disabilities or special educational needs .
Special praise was reserved for Headteacher Jane Acklam, who was described as very dynamic and inspirational. Overall teaching was also said to be of a high standard, contributing to Moor Ends success in subjects such as English and Maths, where pupils are in the top 1 per cent and 7 per cent in the country respectively.
