Many of the UK's colleges and higher education institutions are in financial difficulty, according to a recent Government survey.
Throughout 2006, colleges and sixth forms have been receiving increasingly less money through funding. Coupled with debt and other charges, many schools and colleges have had to implement cuts.
One such cut is the removal of foreign languages from many schools, colleges and sixth forms.
French, German and Spanish were compulsory. However, due to educational institutions having less money, they are beginning to fade from the curriculum.
This could cause a skills shortage according to many. Students are now encouraged to try to pick up languages out of school, to improve their general ability.
